Natures Ways are Usually the Cheaper Ways
I try to buy lipstick as little as possible. While I was still employed I used to put my make-up on my my car in the morning. This meant I left most of my make-up in a bag in my car and I was bad about leaving my lipstick in there too. Everyone knows what happens when you leave a tube of lipstick in your car. I would usually scrape as much as I could out of the tube after that occurred but it was pretty much ruined after that. Even the cheap lipsticks will cost you nearly 5 dollars at Wal-Mart.
You will need
1 tbsp of any type of oil
1/2 tsp some type of pigment (will discuss this more later)
Combine 1/2 teaspoon white wax (shave a candle if you have to)
1/8 tsp shortening or Vaseline
Place oil and pigment in a heat proof glass bowl, mix thoroughly, and set aside. Combine wax, Vaseline and add it to your pigment mixture. Heat everything to just enough to melt the wax and combine but no hotter that 170 degrees. A double boiler method works the best. When thoroughly combined pour into pre-greased lipstick molds (you can clean out and use old empty lipstick or chap stick tubes for this).
You can get many pigments from plants. Blackberry Juice makes a lovely purple pink color. You can warm that color us by adding yellow green pigment derived from black walnut hulls. Rose petals ground to a fine powder would color the lipstick mixture a nice brown tea color. If you don’t have easy access to plant materials you could use plain old ordinary food coloring or a mixture of the two.
If you want to make lipstick that will plump your lips as if you have had collagen injections you can combine the plumping ingredients from my lip plumper recipe.
